    Sept. 23, 2000

Since the Michigan and Illinois tangled in a rare conference
night game, fans had all day to "prepare themselves."

Some fans were more prepared than others.

More than 72,000 fans came through the turnstiles. It was the
first home sellout for the Fighting Illini since 1995.

Plenty of media were around to cover the event...

...including Adrian Karsten and the ESPN crew.

When game time finally rolled around, Memorial Stadium looked great under
    the lights.

Nothing like fun at Memorial Stadium!

The Illinois captains precede the team out of the tunnel.

The Illini have a lean and hungry look as they prepare to
    do battle with the Wolverines.

Defensive back Anthony Hurd put the hurt on Michigan
QB Drew Henson at least once that night.

Coach Ron Turner and quarterback Kurt Kittner
    discuss strategy in between series.

As is the plan, Kittner throws deep frequently
    against the Wolverines.

The ROTC guys had lots of points to ring up Sept. 23.

There were plenty of fireworks when the Fighting Illini and
    the Wolverines tangled.
