Illinois Football Announces Sellout

Sept. 7, 2000

The University of Illinois athletic ticket office announced a sellout crowd for the Fighting Illini's Sept. 23 football game against the Michigan Wolverines in the 70,900-seat Memorial Stadium.

"We appreciate the tremendous support from Illini fans and this community," head coach Ron Turner said. "It means a lot to this team to run out of the tunnel to see a full stadium. We hope that this excitement will carry over to the other games this season and sell out the rest of the home games."

The sell out marks Illinois' first capacity crowd since 1995 when the Illini announced 70,193 in attendance for the Illinois/Michigan football game on Sept. 2.
