CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The University of Illinois football team will once again hold weekly youth football camps inside Memorial Stadium on Thursday evenings of Fighting Illini game weeks this fall. The camps are free for boys and girls grades K-8 and will run for one hour each week starting at 5:30 p.m. from Sept. 5 through Oct. 31, except for Sept. 19 and Oct. 10, which are Illinois' open dates in the 2013 schedule.
"These youth camps are something I've done in the past and they have been very popular," Beckman said. "Our team and coaching staff are excited about hosting these events and working with young people in the Champaign-Urbana community. We think this is a great way for kids to enjoy learning about football and for us to give back to this great community."
A different position coach and his group of Illini players will run each clinic, incorporating as many position-specific drills and situations as possible while focusing on general football skills.
Parking will be available in the northeast lot (Lot 38) of State Farm Center on the corner of Fourth and Kirby. Check-in/registration for the camps is required will begin 30 minutes prior to start time at Gate 23 (portal 6), directly across Fourth Street from the NE parking lot. The registration form also can be done in advance by filling out the printable application and bringing it to check-in.
