Special Videos To Be Shown At Renaissance Celebration
Sept. 5, 2008
Fans will be treated to a pair of special videos prior to the start of the Illinois Renaissance game Saturday against Eastern Illinois. Beginning approximately 40 minutes before kickoff, a video showing Fighting Illini greats talking about their favorite memories of Memorial Stadium and their thoughts on the renovation will be shown, as well as a music video celebrating the run to the 2008 Rose Bowl. During the game, a time-lapse video of the stadium construction will be shown that will showcase the incredible transformation that Memorial Stadium has undergone in the last two years.
In addition to those videos, a video commemorating the history of Illinois football will be shown at halftime, which is also the time when the 10 Greatest Quarterbacks in Illinois history will be honored. All 80 players named to the lists of 10 Greatest Players will be honored throughout the game, with video tributes and on-field appearances by the former players who were able to attend. In all, 47 of the 80 honored players are scheduled to be in attendance at Saturday's game, including former Illini greats Dick Butkus, Kevin Hardy, Dana Howard, Jack Trudeau and David Williams.
A limited number of tickets remain available for the Illinois Renaissance Celebration. Sideline seats can be purchased for $45 at fightingillini.com, over the phone or in person while supplies last.
Other special activities surrounding the Renaissance Celebration include the aerial and panoramic photos that will be taken during the game by photographers from The Tintype, the official photography provider of the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics. In addition, a special commemorative ticket and magazine will be given away to fans as they enter Memorial Stadium on Saturday. The 40-page magazine will feature eight pages highlighting the accomplishments of the 80 Greatest Players in Illinois history as well as information about the history of Memorial Stadium and the Illinois Renaissance.
Also, Zook Zone towels, which are designed to help build energy and create a great home-field advantage at Memorial Stadium during the 2008 season, will be on sale at the game for $8.
