Alternate plans for parking oversized vehicles have been announced.
Sept. 1, 2012
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - University of Illinois Division of Intercollegiate Athletics officials have announced some game day changes as a result of inclement weather for Saturday's Illini football home-opener.
Saturday Morning Update (7:30 a.m.)
Illini Street Fest and Illini Walk have been canceled due to the rain. Because of this, the entire length of First Street is now open to traffic.
As of 8 a.m., no parking lots have been closed due to the weather.
Illinois-Western Michigan Parking Changes (as of 8/31 at 4 p.m.)
All fans bringing RVs, motorhomes or oversized vehicles to Saturday's game will be directed to park in Lot 33, a hard-surface lot that borders St. Mary's Road between Oak Street and First Street. I Fund parking passes will be honored in Lot 33.
Fans with pull-behind trailers who usually park in Lot 42 (southeast corner of Fourth and Kirby), will be directed to park in the north half (along Kirby Ave.) of Lot 45 or in Lot 48.
Fans will be able to find details on FightingIllini.com, the official Twitter accounts of Fighting Illini Athletics and Fighting Illini Football, or during pregame coverage on WDWS AM-1400, the flagship station of the Illini Sports Network.
