Illini Football Players Earn Scholarships
University of Illinois football players B.J. Ogata and Anthony Julian were awarded full scholarships for the 2000-01 school year today as announced by head coach Ron Turner.
"We love to do this," Illinois Head Coach Ron Turner said. "Anthony (Julian) and B.J. (Ogata) are two players who have sacrificed a lot for this football team. Walk-ons are very important to this program and we like to reward them any time we can. They stuck with us because they love the game. They earned this and they deserve it."
Julian, a senior cornerback from Oak Brook, Ill., has been a member of the Illini squad since 1997 after a standout high school career at Hinsdale Central High School. He got work in 1999 on special teams. Ogata is also a senior and is in his fifth year on the team as tight end. He was an honorable mention all-conference selection at Onekama High School in Acadia, Mich.
