Aerial, Panoramic Photos To Be Taken At Sept. 6 Game
Aug. 22, 2008
University of Illinois Division of Intercollegiate Athletics officials announced Friday that fans will have another opportunity to be part of history at the Sept. 6 Illinois Renaissance Celebration game as the first aerial and panoramic photos of the newly renovated Memorial Stadium will be taken that day. The photos are certain to be collector's items and also will be used in a variety of Fighting Illini publications in the near future. The photos will be taken by Mark Jones, owner of The Tintype studio, the photography provider for the DIA, and will be available for purchase on fightingillini.com. Fans can take part in the historical photos while getting their first look at both the Memorial Stadium Renaissance and the 2008 Fighting Illini team, as well as honoring the long list of former Illini greats who are returning for the game.
To make the photos even more memorable and eye-catching, Fighting Illini fans are encouraged to purchase an orange "Zook Zone" towel to help build energy and create a great home-field advantage at Memorial Stadium. These towels went on sale July 1 and will remain on sale throughout the season. Towels can be found at both Gameday Spirit locations in Champaign for $7, with $1 from every towel going to help fight cancer through the Coaches vs. Cancer program.
