CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- Several promotions are on tap for each Fighting Illini home football game this season, including a revamp of the pregame Street Fest event that will include more family-friendly elements, live music, and food options. Details of the main promotions are below, while the full 2014 promotions schedule can be found at the bottom of this page and here.
The Illini Walk will start two-and-a-half hours prior to game time at the corner of First Street and Kirby Avenue, serving as the official kickoff for Street Fest at each home game. The football team, led by the Marching Illini, the Illini cheerleading squad, and Illinettes, will walk through the Street Fest area down First Street to Irwin Drive, then along the north end of Memorial Stadium. Following Illini Walk, the Illinettes will perform briefly for tailgaters as Street Fest gets underway.
Illini Street Fest Presented by County Market
During each Illini Street Fest, a free, public concert will be held at the main stage, which will be located at the corner of First and Irwin facing south. Different live entertainment acts will perform each game day prior to kickoff. In addition to the music, Illini Street Fest will feature several family-friendly, free activities at each game, such as inflatable and interactive games, face painting and much more. Vendors also will be available for fans to purchase food and drink. We are excited to have the Cracked food truck, Pandamonium Donuts, Hickory River BBQ and Kona Ice scheduled to serve food this year. In addition, an Illini information booth will be set up for fans to get posters, plus Kids Club, I Fund and other Illinois Athletics information. At select games, additional sponsored elements will be present to offer product sampling and interactive activities.
NOTE: First Street, between Kirby Avenue and Stadium Drive, will be closed prior to each game for Illini Street Fest. Only patrons with a Lot 36 or 37 parking pass will be allowed to enter from the north on First Street prior to the game. Patrons with a Lot 31 parking pass must enter off of Oak Street. After the game, First Street will become one way going north, between Kirby Avenue and Green Street.
The University of Illinois football team will hold weekly youth football clinics on Thursday evenings during the season for kids eighth grade and under. The events will run for one hour each week starting at 6 p.m. on Sept. 4 through Oct. 23, except for Oct. 16, which is Illinois' open date in the 2014 schedule.
A different position coach and his group of Illini players will run each clinic, incorporating as many position-specific drills and situations as possible while focusing on general football skills.
Registration for the clinics is required and can be done on site or in advance by filling out the printable application and bringing it to the clinic. However, please note that a parent's signature is required on the registration form. Free parking will be available in the northeast lot of the State Farm Center. Parents and children should enter on the east side of the Stadium.
