RANTOUL, Ill. - After a long scrimmage at Memorial Stadium Saturday night, the Fighting Illini had an "off" day at Camp Rantoul on Sunday, at least in terms of football practice. Instead of honing their football skills, Coach Beckman held "Leadership Day," which included an abbreviated SEAL Team Physical Training session, a talk from .

SEAL Team Physical Training
Coach Beckman, the coaching staff and student-athletes took part in invaluable teamwork and leadership training with former Navy SEAL John McGuire and the SEAL Team Physical Training team. Since it was an off day for the Illini, McGuire and his team, who have worked closely with the Fighting Illini men's basketball team the last few years, focused mainly on teamwork and mental preparation during the three-hour session.

Water Park Fun
After a quick bite to eat, the Illini got some much-needed fun time with their annual training camp trip to the Hap Parker Family Aquatic Center, which is adjacent to the Camp Rantoul practice fields. Some of the players let loose on the water slides and diving boards, while others watched and lounged in the lagoon area of the pool.

More Leadership Training
Following late afternoon position meetings and dinner, the team took part in more leadership development activities on Sunday night. The evening included a talk from guest speaker Colonel Royal P. Mortenson, a retired U.S. Marine and currently the director of the Illinois Fire Service Institute, as well as group leadership activities.

Up Next:
The Illini will wrap-up Camp Rantoul with the final two-a-day of training camp on Monday. Illinois will practice at 10:45 am and then again at 5 pm, with a short special teams scrimmage, before returning to Champaign-Urbana for the rest of training camp. The two Camp Rantoul practices on Monday are open to the public.
