Good evening, Illini Fans. Once again we had a single practice day, which meant that the morning was filled with meetings and lifting. We began at 8 a.m. with the defense lifting, followed by the offense at 9, all taking place in our special Camp Rantoul Weight Tent in a torrential downpour. Special teams and position meetings also all took place before lunch. Coach mentioned today how impressed he has been with the overall preparation of the team, especially in times off the field. We all can see the intensity during practice, but it seems that there has been a change in the attitude into the effort being put into all aspects of season preparation.

Despite the morning rain, the afternoon practice was still a bit steamy. We were joined today by nearly a dozen kids from Generations of Hope of Rantoul. Generations of Hope is an organization that assists children from the foster care system. Anyway, the group came out to watch the end of practice, run around on the fields, take pictures and get autographs of the players and coaches. I think a good time was had by all. Maybe even found a couple of future Illini in the group!

There are a couple of programming notes to pass along. This year, the Ron Zook TV Show (previously named Illini Rewind with Ron Zook) will air weekly in Champaign, on Fox Sports Midwest and on the Big Ten Network. The following is the schedule for the show:
- WCIA-TV, Channel 3, Champaign: Sundays, 10:30 p.m. CT
- Fox Sports Midwest: Mondays, Noon CT
- Big Ten Network: Mondays, 3 p.m. CT and Tuesdays, 4 p.m. CT

Jason Reda boots one through the uprights during a special teams period of this afternoon's practice at Camp Rantoul.

Fan Appreciation Day: This Sunday, Aug. 19th is the annual Fan Appreciation Day at Memorial Stadium. The players and Coach Ron Zook will be out entertaining fans from 3-5 p.m. In addition to football, members of the Illini volleyball and nationally ranked soccer team will be in attendance as well. This is always a well-attended event. Hopefully, we will have more excitement and anticipation this year, especially since it will give everyone a chance to get a glimpse of the stadium renovation.

Also, a lot of our new season ticket holders probably aren't aware of the Illini Cushion program. You can add an Illini Cushion seat to your bleacher location for just $30 ($39 value) at Fan Appreciation Day at Memorial Stadium and it will be installed in time for the Western Illinois game. If you order a cushion after the Fan Appreciation Day event, it will cost the full $39 and may not be ready for the home opener. It's another great reason to attend Fan Appreciation Day with Coach Zook and the Fighting Illini!

Well, it is getting late. I am heading to our nightly 10 p.m. staff meeting so we can prepare for another day of double sessions. Till then ... GO ILLINI!
