Illini Training Camp: Media Day
Aug. 10, 2014
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The Fighting Illini had the day off from football activities on Sunday, but it wasn't a complete day of rest. Illinois held its annual media day at Memorial Stadium, spending two-and-a-half hours posing for photos and doing interviews before traveling the 16 miles to Camp Rantoul on the former Chanute Air Force Base.
Head coach Tim Beckman started the afternoon with his annual preseason press conference, then headed out to the west main stands to join the team photo. Then the players and coaches broke out into position and class groups for photos before being directed through a number of photo and interview stations.
After completing the media day circuit, the players headed to the Great West Hall for Fan Appreciation Day. They mingled with fans, signing autographs and taking photos, before heading north to Rantoul. The Illini will spend the next eight days at Camp Rantoul before returning to Champaign on Tuesday, Aug. 19.
