HOME, SWEET HOME--The Fanmarker Inn, located on the former Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul, Ill., is the home to all 105 players, as well as the coaching and support staffs for two weeks of intensive preparation for the Fighting Illini football season.
IT'S NOT THE WALDORF, but accommodations inside the Fanmarker are comfortable and certainly more than adequate for the Fighting Illini as they work to get ready for the opening game Sept. 2.
THE LOCKER ROOM, across the street from the practice fields, is spacious, but no actual lockers are to be found there.
THE TRAINING ROOM has an outdoorsy look with the mural on the back wall.
JUST BECAUSE CAMP RANTOUL is located about 15 miles from the Irwin Football Complex at Memorial Stadium doesn't mean the Illini don't get their weightlifting in. What a job it must have been to get all of those weights and machines up there!
THE MESS HALL is not only the place to eat heartily and replace fluids, it's also a great spot for the players to get off their feet and recharge their engines.
COACH RON TURNER addresses his team following a practice session at Camp Rantoul last summer.
