CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The University of Illinois football team will hold a former player picnic on Saturday, Aug. 17, at 5 p.m. on the patio outside the Legacy Lounge on the northwest corner of Memorial Stadium. Previous Illini players will have a chance to eat and mingle with the current team prior to that evening's scrimmage. Former players wishing to attend are asked to RSVP to the Illinois football office at 217-333-1400.

The former Illini also will be able to encourage and send off this year's squad into the 2013 season, and remember their days wearing the Orange and Blue. In case of inclement weather, the event will take place in the Football Performance Center at the north end of Memorial Stadium.

The Fighting Illini open the 2013 campaign against Southern Illinois on Saturday, Aug. 31, at 11 a.m. at Memorial Stadium. Season and single-game tickets for the 2013 season, which features seven home games starting with the Aug. 31 season-opener against Southern Illinois, are on sale now. Fighting Illini also will host the Chicago Homecoming game at historic Soldier Field on Sept. 14 against Washington. Tickets for the Chicago Homecoming game start at $30 and are on sale now.
