CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Illinois put on shoulder pads for the first time on Wednesday as the Fighting Illini continued split-squad practices. After two days of practice without pads, the Orange and Blue were able to enjoy more contact during Wednesday's workouts inside Memorial Stadium.
One other noticeable change was different quarterbacks with each team. Reilly O'Toole and Aaron Bailey switched to the Orange squad after working with the Blue on Monday and Tuesday. That meant that Wes Lunt and Chayce Crouch switched to the Blue for the evening session.
Fan Appreciation Day Set for Sunday
Illinois announced the annual Fan Appreciation Day will be Sunday, Aug. 10, at 4 p.m. at Memorial Stadium. The one-hour event is free to the public and is a great opportunity for fans to meet Fighting Illini players and coaches. Team posters will be available and fans also can bring up to two items to have autographed.

Former Illini Brian Scott Earns Medal For Honor | WICD News Story
Brian Scott, a former Illinois football player and current Illinois State Trooper, was honored with the ISP's Medal for Honor, one of the department's highest honors, this week. In March 2013, Scott helped lift a car off Ethan Asofsky after ice had caused the car to slide out of control and hit him, trapping him underneath. Asofsky recovered from the incident and now lives in Connecticut after graduating from Illinois.
