The Fighting Illini will host weekly youth clinics on Thursdays throughout the season this fall.

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The University of Illinois football team will hold weekly youth football clinics on Thursday evenings this fall for kids eighth grade and under, head coach Tim Beckman announced Monday. The events will run for one hour each week starting at 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 6, except for Oct. 18, which is Illinois' open date in the 2012 schedule.
"These clinics are something I've done in the past and they have been very popular," Beckman said. "Our team and coaching staff are excited about hosting these events and working with young people. We think this is a great way for kids to enjoy learning about football and for us to give back to this great community of Champaign-Urbana."
A different position coach and his group of Illini players will run each clinic, incorporating as many position-specific drills and situations as possible while focusing on general football skills. Registration for the clinics is required and can be done on site or in advance by filling out the printable application and bringing it to the clinic. Parking will be available in the northwest lot of the Assembly Hall. Parents and children should enter the stadium through the tunnel on the south end of Memorial Stadium along Kirby Avenue.
