Zook will be in Chicago Friday to sing

    July 28, 2005

University of Illinois head football coach will get his chance to test his vocal skills as he leads the Chicago Cubs fans in the famed "Take Me out to the Ballgame," Friday afternoon at Wrigley Field. Zook is following in the footsteps of other Illini coaches honored with the conductor privileges. He and his coaching staff will be in attendance at the game cheering the Cubbies to victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 1:20 p.m. CT start.

Zook's trip to Wrigley precedes the beginning of the 2005 football season, signaled by the annual Big Ten Media Day and Kickoff Luncheon set for Aug. 1-2 at the Downtown Hyatt Regency in Chicago. Later that week, the team officially reports to camp on Thurs., Aug. 4 and practice begins Fri., Aug. 5. The team will have two days in Champaign before heading to Camp Rantoul on Mon., Aug. 8. The annual Rantoul scrimmage is set for Sat., Aug. 13 at Rantoul High School.
