Illinois opens the season with an 11 a.m. tilt against Western Michigan.

    June 7, 2012

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Two more 2012 Fighting Illini Football game times have been set by the Big Ten Conference and its television partners. Illinois' season-opener against Western Michigan will start 11 a.m. CDT and will be televised by ESPNU, while the Sept. 15 game vs. Charleston Southern at Memorial Stadium also will be an 11 a.m. kick off on the Big Ten Network.

Illinois now has six of its 12 game times set for the 2012 season. Kickoff time and television information for the Sept. 8 game at Arizona State is expected to be announced within the next few weeks by the Pac-12. The remaining games will likely be announced during the season as 6- or 12-day selections by the television networks.

The 2012 Fighting Illini will be led by new head coach Tim Beckman, who came to Illinois after three successful seasons at Toledo. Illinois is coming off bowl victories in back-to-back seasons for the first time in school history after victories in the 2011 Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl and 2010 Texas Bowl against UCLA and Baylor, respectively. The Fighting Illini have seven home games in 2012, starting with the season-opener at Memorial Stadium against Western Michigan on Sept. 1. Season tickets are on sale now.
