May 25, 2012
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - University of Illinois senior center Graham Pocic was named to the Rimington Trophy watch list, the award given annually to the nation's top center. The award is determined based on placement on All-America teams selected by the American Football Coaches Association, Walter Camp Foundation, Sporting News and Football Writers Association of America.
Pocic enters 2012 having started 26 consecutive games at center for the Illini, where he has helped Illinois to consecutive victories in the 2011 Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl and 2010 Texas Bowl. He was an All-Big Ten honorable mention selection in 2010 when he helped pave the way for the top rushing offense in the Big Ten and 11th-best in the nation as Illinois averaged 246.1 yards per game. The Illini also broke school records for points in a season (423) and points per game (32.54) in 2010, while producing the second-most rushing yards (3,199) and fourth-most total yards (5,162) in school history.
