103rd Homecoming Game Time Set
May 24, 2013
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The Big Ten Conference announced the start times for this year's Homecoming games on Thursday. Illinois' Homecoming matchup with Michigan State on Saturday, Oct. 26, will start at 2:30 p.m. CT. In addition, the Illini's Oct. 5 game at Nebraska, the Huskers' Homecoming game, will kick at 11 a.m. CT. Television information for both games will be announced at a later date.
This year will mark the 103rd Homecoming at the University of Illinois. The Fighting Illini are 44-56-2 all-time on Homecoming, dating back to 1910, a 3-0 win over Chicago. The University of Illinois boasts being one of the first universities to celebrate Homecoming, a tradition on almost every college campus. It was conceived in 1909 by students C.F. Williams and W. Elmer Ekblaw, members of the Shield and Trident senior society. They joined with another society, Phoenix, to organize the three-day event.
The Fighting Illini will again play seven home games in 2013, including three in the month of September and a marquee Big Ten slate of Wisconsin, Michigan State, Ohio State and Northwestern. Season tickets can be purchased here for as low as $99.
In addition to the exciting seven-game home slate, the Fighting Illini will also host the Chicago Homecoming game at historic Soldier Field in Chicago on Sept. 14 against Washington. Tickets for the Chicago Homecoming game start at $30 and are on sale now.
