CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Illinois football coach Tim Beckman revealed the 2012 Illinois "Loyal-Tee" shirt design on Tuesday in front of Foellinger Auditorium. The "Loyal-Tee" shirt starts at 14.99 and is now available at Gameday Spirit and online.
The winning design, which is featured on the front of the shirt, was voted on by thousands of Illini fans out of four designs based on the winning fan-submitted slogan, "A New Era BECKons." Beth Collins of Champaign submitted the winning slogan, which was chosen from over 750 entries. The back of the shirt features the 2012 Illinois football schedule. The "Loyal-Tee" shirt will be worn by the Block I student section during the 2012 season.
Starting today and throughout the 2012 season (through the final home game on Nov. 17), fans that wear their "Loyal-Tee" shirt to the businesses listed below will get these special offers:
1. Buffalo Wild Wings: 10 percent discount at Champaign, Savoy and Mattoon locations
2. Gameday Spirit: Specials for anyone that wears the loyal-tee into one of their two Champaign locations. To find out the perk for the week the shirt owner can do one of the following: friend Gameday Spirit on Facebook, download the Champaign City Perks app to their smartphone or come in to the store. Examples of the perks are buy one get one free hats, discounts on apparel, free items through a punch card system and other discounts depending on the time of season.
The 2012 Fighting Illini will be led by new head coach Tim Beckman, who came to Illinois after three successful seasons at Toledo. Illinois is coming off bowl victories in back-to-back seasons for the first time in school history after victories in the 2011 Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl and 2010 Texas Bowl against UCLA and Baylor, respectively. The Fighting Illini have seven home games in 2012, starting with the season-opener at Memorial Stadium against Western Michigan on Sept. 1. Season tickets start at just $99 and are on sale now.
