Fighting Illini Scrimmage In The Windy City
April 14, 2007 The Fighting Illini football team took its show on the road Saturday as it held its second major scrimmage of the spring at St. Rita High School in Chicago. A crowd of several thousand watched Illinois scrimmage for nearly two hours in windy, cool conditions on the AstroPlay field. Among the highlights were the rushing of Rashard Mendenhall, who led the offense with 76 yards on the ground, including a 36-yard run. Converted defensive back Dere Hicks led all receivers with four catches for 51 yards. Eddie McGee went 7-of-10 through the air for 84 yards. Defensively, Tyler Rouse led with seven tackles and Antonio Steele added six. Rouse added an interception and Steele had one sack for 8 yards.
