Football Family Fun Fest and Movie Night Set for May 3

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The University of Illinois football team and the UI Division of Intercollegiate Athletics will host a fun-filled evening at Memorial Stadium on Saturday, May 3. Head football coach Tim Beckman and the Fighting Illini football team will kick things off by hosting the annual Football Family Fun Fest on the field at Memorial Stadium from 3:30-5 p.m. Then at approximately 6 p.m., the DIA will host the first-ever Movie Night at Memorial Stadium, featuring a showing of a family-friendly movie on the giant 3,400-square foot jumbotron.
At Football Family Fun Fest, fans will be able to meet and collect autographs from the coaching staff and players, take photos on the playing field and participate in a variety of fun activities with Fighting Illini players. Football drills and competitions will be available for youngsters age 13 and under in addition to inflatable games like the bounce house, obstacle course and giant slide.
After the conclusion of Fun Fest, fans and families are invited to stay for the inaugural Movie Night at Memorial Stadium. Fans are encouraged to bring their own food, drinks* and blankets onto the field to watch a movie on the Memorial Stadium video board. Hot dogs, popcorn, Dippin' Dots and drinks will be available for purchase at the concession stands in the Great West Hall. Lawn chairs will not be allowed on the field, but fans will be allowed to sit in the stands on the west side of the stadium as an alternative to watching from the field.
* Lawn chairs and alcohol will not be allowed. Bags will be searched when entering the stadium.
After more the 1,600 votes are counted, the winner is...THE LEGO MOVIE!
Both events are free and open to the public. On-site registration is required for all children that wish to participate in the on-field activities prior to the movie. Registration will begin at 3 p.m. and will be held just inside Gate 24 on the west side of Memorial Stadium, which will be the only entrance used for stadium entry.
Free parking will be available in the Northwest and Northeast parking lots of State Farm Center and in the grass lot west of the stadium if weather permits.
The two fun-filled events come three weeks after the annual Orange and Blue Spring Game, which will take place at Memorial Stadium on Saturday, April 12, at 2 p.m. CT. Tickets for the 2014 Illinois football season are on sale now, including a limited number of $99 Family Rate season tickets, one of the best deals in college football at less than $15 per game.
