Football Hosts High School Coaches At Lively Thursday Practice

PRACTICE NOTES: The Illinois football team used a two-hour Thursday practice to showcase both the offense and defense for Illinois high school coaches in town for the IHSA clinic. The Illini worked on individual drills, capped with 11-on-11 work.
Some highlights of the day's practice were a 25-yard reception by senior tight end Josh Whitman, followed by a leaping grab of 30-plus yards by sophomore wide receiver Aaron Moorehead. Redshirt-freshman Eric McGoey turned heads with multiple breath-taking catches highlighting his speed and jumping ability, including a touchdown catch from QB Kurt Kittner. The defense also jumped into the spotlight with a Muhammad Abdullah interception in the redzone.
ILLINI SCRIMMAGE: The Illini will take to the field Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. for a scrimmage following the conclusion of the IHSA clinic. Warm-ups will begin at 2 p.m. followed by the scrimmage at 2:30 p.m. at the North fields on the corner of First and Stadium Drive.
DUNGY TO SPEAK AT IHSA CLINIC: The University of Illinois will host the annual Illinois High School Association's Coaches Clinic beginning today through Saturday at the Clarion Hotel in Champaign, featuring Tony Dungy, head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The three-day event allows high school coaches to interact with high school, college and NFL coaches in chalk-talk and lecture sessions. Dungy will be the keynote speaker for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes breakfast and the Hall of Fame banquet on Saturday. He is one of over 30 coaches slated to speak during the clinic.
UNDER THE LIGHTS: Notice the change in the practice schedule, Illinois will practice under the lights on Friday, April 7th at the Illinois Soccer field off St. Mary's Rd. The practice will be open to the public and the media and will feature some 11-on-11 scrimmage work.
SEASON TICKETS: 2000 Illinois football season tickets are on sale now at the Illinois Athletic Ticket Office. Single-game tickets are scheduled to go on sale on April 12.
SPRING GAME: The Illini will conclude their spring season with the annual Orange and Blue Spring Game on Saturday, April 15 at 2 p.m. in Memorial Stadium. Tickets are just $5 for adults and $2 for all students.
PRACTICE TIMES: Practices are open to the public and media and photographers will be able to shoot the first 20 minutes. The 2000 spring practice times are as follows:
