March 21, 2000

A FRESH START: The University of Illinois football team took to the field in the Memorial Stadium Bubble today for day one of the 2000 spring practice season. Dressed in shorts, the Illini took part in a two-hour non-contact session. The squad worked through 10 periods of position specific drills and one-on-one work, capped by a session of 7-on-7 drills.

"I was very happy with our enthusiasm and focus today," head coach Ron Turner said. "We did see that we have a lot of work to do. I told the guys that we have 15 practices to take advantage of this spring and this was just the beginning."

PRESEASON HONORS: Senior offensive tackle Marques Sullivan earned a very prestigious honor today after being notified that he will be among the nation's elite on the Playboy Preseason All-America team. Members of the team get to travel to the Playboy ranch in Arizona and are honored in the football preview issue of Playboy.
