CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- Illinois' senior football class of 2008 worked out for 28 National Football League scouts on campus Wednesday in the annual Pro Timing Day at the Memorial Stadium Complex and Irwin Indoor Facility.
A total of eight members of the 2008 Illinois football team, seven seniors and one junior, participated in Wednesday's pro day -- Vontae Davis, Will Davis, Will Judson, David Lindquist, Ryan McDonald, Brit Miller, Rodney Pittman and Derek Walker. In addition to those eight, former Illini Mike Ware and Illinois State players, Walter Mendenhall and Tom Nelson were also in attendance.
Wednesday's workout had the players taking part in a numerous drills and measurements. The day began at approximately 1:15 p.m. with hand and arm measurements, height and weight, followed by the vertical jump and 225-pound bench press. At the conclusion, action began in the indoor facility and the broad jump, 40-yard dash, pro agility drills and position specific work.
Despite working out at the combine, cornerback Vontae Davis, defensive lineman Will Davis and defensive lineman Derek Walker supplemented their previously posted numbers with their work outs today on campus. Vontae Davis improved on his vertical by an inch and half, registering at 37 ½ and ran a 4.35 in the 40. Will Davis ran a better 40 time than in Indianapolis, recording 4.83, and posted a 34 ½ in the vertical.
Vontae Davis wasn't the only player to post stellar 40 times. Will Judson broke the 4.4 range with his 4.31 on his first run, while Brit Miller twice posted a 4.56. Judson also showed exceptional athleticism in the vertical with a leap of 37 ½.
