    Former Illinois all-star running back Pierre Thomas scored a 16-yard touchdown on a pass from Drew Brees and accounted for 85 yards of total offense, leading the New Orleans Saints to a 31-17 victory over the Indianapolis Colts in Super Bowl XLIV.

    Thomas wasn't the only Illini in the Super Bowl as Colts' starting cornerback Kelvin Hayden recorded six tackles in the loss. Hayden was one of the stars of Super Bowl XLI when he returned an interception 56 yards for a touchdown in Indianapolis' 29-17 win over Chicago.
