Illini in the NFL - Wildcard Week

Three former Illini on the New York Jets advanced to the second round of the playoffs, where they will face the New England Patriots, after a thrilling come-from-behind victory in the final minute to defeat the Indianapolis Colts 17-16 on a last second field goal. Rashard Mendenhall and the Steelers had a first-round bye and will face the Baltimore Ravens in the next round. Four other former Illini were knocked out of the playoffs during wild card weekend.

Brandon Moore, OL, New York Jets - Started his 106th consecutive game and created the hole for LaDanian Tomlinson's second TD run in the Jet's 17-16 win over the Colts. The Jets had 169 rushing yards and averaged 4.4 yards per carry. Moore Article from the NW Indiana Times
Steve Weatherford, P, New York Jets - Averaged 50.4 yards on five punts, including a 65-yarder and one inside the 20-yard line, and was the holder for Nick Folk's game-winning field goal as time expired in the Jets' 17-16 win over the Colts.
Jeff Cumberland, TE, New York Jets - Was inactive for the Jets' 17-16 win over the Colts.
Jon Asamoah, OL, Kansas City Chiefs - Saw action on the offensive line in the Chiefs' 30-7 loss to the Ravens.
Kelvin Hayden, CB, Indianapolis Colts - Was placed on injured reserve before the Colts' 17-16 loss to the Jets with a neck injury.
Pierre Thomas, RB, New Orleans Saints - Was placed on injured reserve before the Saints' 41-36 loss to the Seahawks with an ankle injury.
Danny Clark, LB, New Orleans Saints - Did not play in the Saints' 41-36 loss to the Seahawks.
