Graduate Assistant Coach - Offense

Tyler Johns is in his first year on the Fighting Illini staff, serving as the offensive graduate assistant. Johns will primarily assist offensive line coach Tom Brattan.

Johns comes to Illinois after spending 2013 as the assistant offensive line coach at Iowa Western Community College. He helped the Reivers to an 11-1 record, their second-straight Midwest Football Conference championship, their fourth-straight NJCAA Region XI championship and a win over Butler County in the Graphic Edge Bowl. IWCC finished the season ranked No. 2 in the country.

Prior to his time at Iowa Western, Johns was a three-year starter at the University of Findlay, earning honorable mention All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) honors in 2012 after helping the Oilers to a 7-3 record. Johns started every game of his final three seasons at right tackle and finished his career with 35 starts.
