Graduate Asst. Coach-Defense

2 seasons

Anthony Antonacci spent two seasons at Illinois in 2012 and '13. He became a defensive graduate assistant for the 2013 season after serving as the team's recruiting/operations graduate assistant in 2012. He assisted outside linebackers coach Al Seamonson, working primarily with the LEO (linebacker/end option) position.

Prior to joining the Fighting Illini staff, Antonacci served as defensive line and strength and conditioning coach at Lake Park High School in Roselle, Ill., in the 2011 season. He helped mentor three All-Upstate Eight Conference selections that season and contributed to a three-win turnaround from the previous year.

Before his season at Lake Park, Antonacci was the defensive line coach at North Central College in 2010, helping the Cardinals to a third-place finish in the nation in total defense. He guided Valente Garza to third-team All-America honors, who helped the Cardinals lead the CCIW and rank fifth nationally in sacks.

A 2009 magna cum laude graduate of Northern Illinois, Antonacci played defensive line for three seasons before moving to fullback in 2008. He helped the Huskies to appearances in the 2006 Poinsettia Bowl and the 2008 Independence Bowl.

Antonacci and his wife, Samantha, were married in July 2013.
