Big Ten Player of the Week Release

Sophomore guard Tracy Abrams was named Big Ten Player of Week today after his incredible all-around performance in Illinois' 81-79 win over Auburn at the United Center on Saturday.

Abrams had a career day for the Orange and Blue, pouring in a career-high 27 points and pulling down a career-high eight rebounds. He hit 6-of-11 field goals and 13-of-15 free throws, career-highs for both makes and attempts, while also adding team highs of five assists and four steals to help the Fighting Illini hold off the Tigers and improve to 13-1 on the season.

It's first career Big Ten Player of the Week honor for Abrams and the second for an Illini this season. Brandon Paul was named Big Ten and National Player of the Week three weeks ago after his 35-point performance in a win at Gonzaga.

Abrams and the 12th-ranked Fighting Illini (13-1) return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 2, when they open Big Ten Conference play at Purdue (7:30 pm CT, BTN). Tickets for remaining Illinois home games are available by calling 1-866-ILLINI-1 or online.
