Fighting Illini fans have a once a lifetime opportunity to celebrate with members of the 1989 "Flyin' Illini" by participating in a special online auction on Fightingillini.com now through Monday, December 23. Fans currently have the chance to bid on a VIP Experience taking place during the 1989 team reunion weekend on January 3-4.
There are four identical packages up for auction and each includes the opportunity for two people to attend the January 4 home game versus Penn State and sit in courtside seats. These seats are on the sideline across from either team's benches. These tickets have never been available to the general public.
The courtside seats are only part of the package, however. Each winning bidder will also have the opportunity to attend an invitation only reception on Friday, January 3 with members of the Flyin' Illini team, coaching staff, support staff. John Groce's current squad is also expected to attend the reception. In addition, winning bidders will be able to attend a pregame brunch on Saturday morning prior to the game with reunion attendees.
The auction is live now on FightingIllini.com and bids can be made here. All four auction packages end on December 23. They have a staggered ending with the first one concluding at 2 p.m. central time. Each includes the following:
