Coaching Connections
While Illinois and Georgia haven't met on the court since 1985, there are a number of connections between the coaches and the programs. Bruce Weber faced Georgia in the second round of the 2002 NCAA Tournament while he was head coach at Southern Illinois, with the Salukis posting a 77-75 win at the United Center to advance to the Sweet 16. Dennis Felton, meanwhile, faced Illinois in his final game as head coach at Western Kentucky, with the Illini defeating the Hilltoppers 65-60 in the first round of the 2003 NCAA Tournament in Indianapolis.

Weber and Felton also coached against each other twice at their previous posts. Western Kentucky defeated Southern Illinois during the 1998-99 season, but the Salukis returned the favor with a victory over the Hilltoppers in 1999-2000.

Felton also spent two days in Champaign in October 2005 observing Illini practices, visiting with Weber, and touring the Ubben Basketball Complex while Georgia was in the process of designing its practice facility.

The United Center: Illinois' Home Away from Home
While games played at the United Center count as neutral site in the record book, for the Illini the UC is a home away from home. Saturday's contest against Georgia marks the 40th game the Illini have played at the UC, dating back to the 1994-95 season. Illinois owns an all-time record of 31-8 (.795) at the United Center.
