Champaign, Ill. - As the 2006-07 Illinois men's basketball season officially gets underway with tonight's opener vs. Austin Peay, fans still have the chance to purchase tickets to see the Illini in action at the Assembly Hall this year.
There are approximately 2,000 tickets available for Illinois' game vs. Savannah State on Tuesday, Nov. 21. There are also a few hundred tickets remaining for games vs. Austin Peay tonight, Jackson State on Wednesday, Nov. 15, Florida A&M on Sunday, Nov. 19, IUPUI on Wednesday, Dec. 6 and Idaho State on Thursday, Dec. 21.
Illinois enters this season with an active school-record streak of 28 consecutive sell-out crowds at the Assembly Hall. That streak will be on the line against Savannah State next Tuesday.
"Illini fans continue to show outstanding support for our team and have attended games in record numbers during my tenure here," Illinois head coach Bruce Weber said. "The streak of consecutive sell-outs at The Hall is a point of pride for our players and our program, and we really hope that our fans will help push the Savannah State game to a sell-out to extend the streak throughout this entire season. There is nothing like the game-night atmosphere at Assembly Hall and we hope that it will be filled to capacity for every game this year, just as it has been for the past 28 games."
Tickets can be purchased online at fightingillini.com, by phone at 1-866-ILLINI-1 or in person at the UI Athletics Ticket Office in the Assembly Hall North Box Office.
