Champaign, Ill. - The 2006-07 college basketball season is right around the corner, and the Illinois men's basketball team will tip-off the year by hosting Illini Madness on Friday night at the Assembly Hall. The free event was advance ticketed for the first time this year, and all tickets for Illini Madness have been distributed. Actor Jeremy Piven, a Chicago native and star of the hit series Entourage on HBO, is scheduled to attend this year's Illini Madness and partake in the festivities. Highlight videos and a number of performances will kick off the event shortly after the Assembly Hall doors open at 8 p.m. The basketball portion of the program begins after 9 p.m.

For fans not in attendance, free video streaming of Illini Madness will be provided on fightingillini.com

There is also an Illinois volleyball game at Huff Hall on Friday at 7 p.m. Fans who already have Illini Madness tickets can guarantee a "B" section seat at the Assembly Hall by first attending the volleyball match vs. Ohio State. To participate, fans need to present their Madness ticket at the door for volleyball and have it stamped on their way out.
