2006 Illini Madness Schedule Announced

Champaign, Ill. - Tip-off for the 2006-07 basketball season officially gets underway Friday, Oct. 13 when the Fighting Illini men's basketball players and coaches are introduced at Illini Madness. The event, which is ticketed for the first time, begins at 9 p.m. with doors to the Assembly Hall open at 8 p.m. The event will include scrimmages and competitive games with the men's team, as well as several special events. Illini Madness tickets can be picked up in person at the Athletics Ticket Office at the Assembly Hall beginning at 9 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 12. Tickets are free of charge with a limit of six tickets per individual. General admission seating will be available for the evening.
With a number of events on campus in addition to Illini Madness, the weekend of Oct. 13-15 will be known as "IlliniFest." The Illini football team hosts Ohio on Saturday, Oct. 14 in a night game at Memorial Stadium with a 6 p.m. kick-off, and the UI volleyball team has a pair of matches at Huff Hall, taking on Ohio State on Friday, Oct. 13 at 7 p.m. and Penn State on Sunday, Oct. 15 at 1 p.m.
Season ticket renewals have been distributed for the Illinois men's program. Last month, the Illinois athletics department unveiled a waiting list for men's basketball season tickets and the response has been overwhelming. More than 2,300 individuals are already signed up on the waiting list, requesting more than 6,000 tickets.
Men's basketball single game tickets go on sale Oct. 31 at 9 a.m. Individuals may order by phone (217/333-3470 or toll free at 866/ILLINI-1), mail, in person at the Athletics Ticket Office (Assembly Hall), or, online at www.fightingillini.com.
Single games in which UI students won't be in session and for which additional tickets may be available to the general public include Nov. 19 vs. Florida A&M, Nov. 21 vs. Savannah State, Dec. 17 vs. Belmont, Dec. 21 vs. Idaho State, Jan. 6 vs. Ohio State and Jan. 10 vs. Iowa. IFUND members and season ticket holders have first opportunity to purchase single-game tickets. Any remaining tickets will be available beginning Oct. 31.
