Forty-four Big Ten men's basketball conference games will be televised on CBS Sports or an ESPN network, the conference office announced on Tuesday. CBS Sports will carry eight weekend games this season, while 36 contests will appear on ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPNU.
At least seven and possibly eight of Illinois' conference games will appear on either CBS or the ESPN family of networks, beginning with a trip to Purdue on Dec. 31 (3 pm CT, ESPN2). The Illini welcome Ohio State to the Assembly Hall for an ESPN Super Tuesday showdown on Jan. 10 (8 pm), then play at Penn State on Jan. 19 (8 pm, ESPN/ESPN2). Another ESPN Super Tuesday contest awaits on Jan. 31 when the Illini host Michigan State (6 pm). The Illini debut on CBS Sports on Feb. 12, facing Michigan in Ann Arbor (Noon). Illinois' second matchup with Ohio State on Feb. 21 also will air on ESPN (6 pm). Senior Night at the Assembly Hall is scheduled for March 1, with the Fighting Illini taking on Michigan (6 pm, ESPN/ESPN2). Illinois concludes Big Ten play on Mach 4 at Wisconsin in a wildcard game with start time and television information to be determined.
During conference play, the Big Ten will have one game on an ESPN network every Tuesday at 6 or 8 p.m. CT as part of the network's Super Tuesday lineup. ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPNU will televise at least one conference game every Thursday night beginning on Jan. 5. ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPNU will also show games during seven of the nine weekends of the conference regular season.
The Big Ten Men's Basketball Tournament will be held Thursday, March 8, through Sunday, March 11, at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. With the expansion of the Big Ten to 12 teams, the tournament will feature 11 games for the first time in history. ESPN2 will carry the third and fourth games of the tournament, while ESPN will air Games 5 and 6. CBS Sports will once again broadcast the tournament's semifinals and championship game.
