Grabowski was the Big Ten's career rushing leader upon his graduation after the 1965 season, when he finished third in the Heisman Trophy balloting. A two-time consensus All-American, Grabowski was the 1964 Rose Bowl MVP. He was a first-round draft pick of the Green Bay Packers and went on to play six seasons in the NFL with the Packers and Chicago Bears. He also served as color analyst for Illini football radio broadcasts for many years, retiring after the 2006 season.

Kittner was a four-year letter winner for the Illini from 1998-2001, culminating with a senior season in which he lead the Illini to an outright Big Ten title, a 10-win season, and a BCS appearance in the Sugar Bowl. Kittner's senior season also ended with his third team MVP, second All-Big Ten honors and a 12th place finish in the Heisman Trophy voting. Kittner was selected in the fifth-round by the Atlanta Falcons, and also played for the Chicago Bears in the NFL. Kittner currently serves as color analyst for Illini football radio broadcasts, a role he began prior to the 2007 season.
