Champaign, Ill. - The NCAA has recognized three Fighting Illini squads for their latest multi-year Academic Progress Rate scores with APR Public Recognition Awards. Honored this year at Illinois are the Men's Basketball, Women's Golf and Women's Indoor Track teams. These teams posted multi-year APR scores in the top 10 percent nationally of all squads in their respective sports. The most recent APRs are multi-year rates based on scores from the 2004-05, 2005-06, 2006-07 and 2007-08 academic years.

Illinois is one of only two Big Ten Conference men's basketball programs to be honored this year, along with Michigan State. Bruce Weber's squad has now earned the Public Recognition Award each of the four years it has been in existence, the only Big Ten men's basketball program to achieve that feat.

Illinois is one of just four Big Ten women's golf programs and one of just two Big Ten women's indoor track programs to be honored. High-performing teams receiving awards posted APR scores ranging from 976 to a perfect 1,000.

The APR provides a real-time look at a team's academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete. The APR includes eligibility, retention, and graduation in the calculation and provides a clear picture of the academic culture in each sport.

Multi-year APR scores for all Division I sports teams, including the teams receiving public recognition awards, will be announced May 6.
