Senior Brian Randle received two awards at the 86th annual Illini Basketball Banquet.

Urbana, Ill. - The Fighting Illini closed out the 2007-08 college basketball season tonight as nearly 800 people gathered at the Holiday Inn for the 86th Annual Illinois Men's Basketball Banquet, sponsored by the Champaign-Urbana Kiwanis Club. Receiving special recognition was the Senior Class of 2008: Chris Hicks, Shaun Pruitt and Brian Randle.
Six team awards were presented at the banquet. Shaun Pruitt won the Illini Rebounders Award for the second straight season. Pruitt led the Illini and ranked third in the Big Ten with an average of 7.3 rebounds per game.
Brian Randle and junior Trent Meacham each took home a pair of awards. Randle received the Lou Henson Courage Award, given to the player who takes the most charges. He also won the Matt Heldman "Matto" Award for having the highest total of the season in a number of "play-hard" statistics (steals, deflections, charges taken, dives for loose balls, five-second counts drawn, etc.).
Meacham, meanwhile, won the Ralf Woods Free Throw Trophy for having the Illini's highest free throw percentage in Big Ten play at 78.4 percent. He also was named Most Improved Player, as voted on by the coaches. Meacham started 31 games on the year and doubled his scoring average from last season, ranking second on the team with an average of 10.1 points. He shot 40 percent from 3-point range and was third on the team in assists with 2.3 apg.
The evening concluded with the announcement of the Kenny Battle Most Inspirational Player. Chris Hicks won the 20th edition of the Battle Award, as voted on by his teammates.
