VIDEO: Griffey Lay-up Tops Indiana | Relive the Stunning Victory

CHICAGO - Illinois senior forward Tyler Griffey's last-second layup to beat then-No. 1 Indiana is the 2013 GEICO Play of the Year, Intersport announced today on CBS Sports during GEICO Presents Best of College Basketball 2013. Throughout the college basketball season, fans voted on Facebook to choose which plays reigned supreme. After eight nominee weeks, the weekly winners were voted on to determine the ultimate GEICO Play of the Year.

Illinois had battled back and found itself tied with the No. 1 team in the country with less than a second remaining. The Illini were inbounding from the corner near the Indiana hoop. As the Illinois players scrambled to get open, the Hoosiers lost track of Tyler Griffey, leaving the big man with a clear path to the hoop. An alert Brandon Paul spotted Griffey and fed him a perfect bounce pass which the senior rushed to the basket before the buzzer sounded, stunning the Hoosiers and sending the crow wild.
