Tickets On Sale For NCAA Men's Basketball Regional At San Antonio This Weekend

Tickets for the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament Regional at San Antonio are available on a limited basis to Fighting Illini Scholarship Fund members and University of Illinois student season ticket holders, they are also available through the UI Athletic Ticket Office and the Alamodome in San Antonio to the general public.

Illinois is scheduled to play Kansas Friday night at approximately 9:15 p.m. Arizona plays Mississippi in the first game scheduled to begin at 6:50 p.m. The Midwest Regional Final is scheduled to begin at approximately 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 25.


Through the UI Athletic Ticket Office

UI Students: Only UI student season ticket holders may place ticket orders at the Assembly Hall for all-session tickets beginning Monday, March 19 from 8:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. with a limit of one ticket per season ticket holder with a valid University of Illinois ID. Married student season ticket holders may purchase up to two (2) tickets with proof of marriage (spouse ID card, marriage certificate).

Placement of an order does not guarantee tickets will be available. Students must order tickets in person.

Student seating will be based on the priority points that were used for assigning student season tickets (point totals derived from class and years of purchase). Orders will be filled numerically from the highest point total. Since the number of tickets received is limited and demand is expected to exceed supply, a list of those students whose orders cannot be filled will be posted at the Athletic Box Office at the Assembly Hall Tuesday, March 20 at 9 a.m.

NCAA Regional tickets are good for three sessions. Any tickets purchased through the University of Illinois will be for all sessions. No single session tickets will be available. Illinois will play Kansas Friday at approximately 9:15 p.m. CST, about 25 minutes after the conclusion of the Mississippi-Arizona contest.

Payment is required at the time the order is placed. There will be no "hold" orders. All sales are final once the order has been confirmed.

No tickets will be mailed. All tickets will be issued at the host site. Further details regarding ticket pickup will be given at the time the order is placed.


FISF Members: FISF members (in good standing) may order up to two (2) all-session tickets from Monday, March 19, 2001, 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m.. FISF members may order by phone (217-333-3470), fax (217-244-4170), or in person at the Assembly Hall. No mail orders will be accepted. Payment is required at the time the order is placed. Since the number of tickets received is limited and demand is expected to exceed supply, the Ticket Office will phone or e-mail those customers whose orders cannot be filled. Calls will take place from approximately 6 until 8 p.m. on Monday, March 19.

Open Sale: Tickets for the Midwest Regional Finals in San Antonio will go on sale to the general public Tuesday, March 20. Orders may be placed by phone (217/333-3470) or in person at the Assembly Hall Athletics Ticket Office from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. The all-session tickets are $76 and good for both Friday, March 23 and Sunday, March 25 games at the Alamodome in San Antonio. There will be a limit of two tickets per customer and orders will be filled on a first come/first serve basis. All tickets will be issued at San Antonio. Ticket distribution information will be available at the time the order is placed.

Tour Information: The UI Alumni Association will be organizing alumni and student trip packages for the NCAA Regional tournament. The tour packages will include transportation (air or land) and hotel accommodations. FISF members and UI students who require travel assistance are encouraged to contact the UI Alumni Association at 217-333-1471.


Through the Alamodome in San Antonio

Tickets remain on sale for the 2001 Division I Men's Championship Midwest Regional to be held on March 23 and 25 at the Alamodome.

The top four seeds in the region, Illinois, Arizona, Mississippi and Kansas have all advanced to San Antonio. Semifinal action on March 23 will have No. 1 seed Illinois and No. 4 Kansas playing in one game, while No. 2 Arizona and No. 3 Mississippi will play in the other. Illinois will play Kansas Friday at approximately 9:15 p.m. CST, about 25 minutes after the conclusion of the Mississippi-Arizona contest.

Seats for the Regional are priced at $78 and $48, and those prices include two regional semifinal games on Friday and the championship game on Sunday. Session tickets will be available at the Alamodome Ticket Office on Monday thru Friday, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Fans can purchase tickets via the telephone by calling 1-800-884-3663.
