Champaign, Ill. - University of Illinois sophomore guard Brandon Paul's powerful slam against Southern Illinois on November 13 was selected as a 2011 Dunk of the Year nominee, announced Monday by sports television production and event marketing company Intersport. The 2011 Dunk of the Year is wholly determined by fan voting and will be announced on a one-hour "Dunks of the Year" special airing on ABC April 2.

Each week for eight weeks, four incredible college dunk videos are released at the Dunks of the Year fan page on Facebook. The top weekly vote-getters proceed to the Finals, which tip off March 7, and are highlighted within the ABC special.

Paul's dunk over a Saluki defender is competing against three other dunkers in week three, including Jared Cunningham (Oregon State), Shane Manor (UW-River Falls), and Chris Wright (Dayton). The winners of the first two weeks of voting were High Point's Shay Shine and Missouri State's Jermaine Mallett.

To support Paul, fans can vote once a day and share their vote with their Facebook friends. Week three voting is open through Sunday, January 30.
