    Champaign, Ill. - Illinois held its annual Orange & Blue Scrimmage on Sunday at the Assembly Hall in front of a crowd of 7,216. This year's format called for four 8-minute periods, with the score resetting each period. Different lineups were used during each quarter, resulting in every player seeing action on both the orange and blue teams.

    In the first quarter, the blue team of Shaun Pruitt, Calvin Brock, Steve Holdren, Richard Semrau, Jeff Jordan, Bill Cole and Chris Hicks defeated the orange team of Brian Randle, Rodney Alexander, Trent Meacham, Brian Carlwell, Demetri McCamey, Mike Tisdale and Mike Davis by the score of 18-14. In the second quarter, the orange team of Randle-Meacham-Carlwell-Semrau-Alexander-Jordan-Cole recorded a 22-13 win over the blue team of Pruitt-Brock-Holdren-Tisdale-McCamey-Davis-Hicks.

    Following a brief intermission, the blue squad of Meacham-Brock-Carlwell-Alexander-McCamey-Tisdale-Cole beat the orange unit of Randle-Pruitt-Holdren-Semrau-Jordan-Davis-Hicks in the third quarter by a score of 17-15. Wrapping up the scrimmage, the blue team of Pruitt-Randle-Brock-Meacham-Semrau-McCamey-Hicks defeated the orange squad of Carlwell-Holdren-Alexander-Jordan-Tisdale-Davis-Cole in the fourth quarter, 15-13.

    Brian Randle led all scorers with 19 points on the night, shooting 8-14 from the field. He also collected six rebounds and four assists. Randle was one of six Illini reaching double figures. Rodney Alexander had 17 points on 6-11 shooting and nailed a game-high five 3-pointers. Shaun Pruitt nearly posted a double-double, finishing with 14 points and eight rebounds.

    Steve Holdren had 13 points, four rebounds and four assists, while Trent Meacham had 12 points, eight boards and a game-high five assists. Also scoring in double figures was freshman Bill Cole with 11. Fellow freshmen Mike Tisdale and Mike Davis had eight points and five rebounds apiece, while Demetri McCamey and Jeff Jordan had identical lines of six points, four rebounds and four assists each.

    Brian Carlwell led all rebounders with a game-high 10 boards. Chester Frazier sat out the scrimmage after injuring his thumb in practice on Saturday.

    Illinois returns to action Wednesday night, hosting Quincy University in an exhibition game at 8 p.m.
