    AT ILLINOIS

    1999-2000 Junior: The junior forward played in 27 of 32 games, starting 14 o Was sidelined with a knee injury that required arthroscopic surgery prior to the Penn State game on Jan. 22 o Recovered sooner than expected, missing only two and a half weeks and just five games o Averaged 20.4 minutes and was third on the team in scoring with 10.7 points per game o Team's top rebounder averaging 5.0 boards per game o Scored in double figures in 15 games o Led the team in scoring on three occasions o Scored 18 points in win over Texas-Pan American (12/11) on eight-of-10 shooting and had a team-high seven rebounds in 20 minutes o Recorded 18 points against Bethune-Cookman (12/28) to go with 10 rebounds in only 17 minutes o Scored career-high 24 points in win over Loyola Chicago (12/30), making 12-of-13 foul shots and collected nine rebounds and three steals in 26 minutes o Led the team in rebounds eight times, including a season high 12 in upset over then-No. 8 Kansas (12/18) o Led the team in blocked shots with 41 and was fourth in the Big Ten in shot block average with 1.56 per game o Recorded two double-doubles, against Kansas on Dec. 18 with 16 points and 12 rebounds, and on Jan. 28 against Bethune-Cookman with 18 points and 10 rebounds o Was one rebound shy of a double-double against Loyola-Chicago o For his efforts against Bethune-Cookman and Loyola-Chicago, Griffin was named Big Ten Player-of-the-Week o After coming back from knee surgery, Griffin came off the bench and scored in double figures five times, with 10 against Iowa, 12 vs. Minnesota, 11 vs. Northwestern, 10 against Penn State in the Big Ten Tournament semifinals and 17 vs. Penn in the NCAA Tournament.

    1997-99: Dick Vitale's Junior College Player of the Year (1998-99 preseason)...Averaged 20.8 ppg and 9.6 rpg as a sophomore at Lincoln College in 1998-99...Shot 64 percent from the field in 1998-99...Averaged 23.0 ppg and 13.0 rpg as a freshman at Lincoln in 1997-98...1998 & 1999 all-conference player...1998 & 1999 Region 24 Division II all-region, all-region tournament and regional Player of the Year...1998 & 1999 NJCAA Division II All-American...1999 National Junior College Division II Player of the Year.
