CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - In the annual Orange and Blue World Series, the Blue Team took two out of three from the Orange Team, which won the final game on a walk-off home run by junior transfer Casey Fletcher. Blue shut out Orange in the opener, 8-0, and earned a 6-2 victory in game two. Orange overcame a 5-1 deficit with seven runs in the final two innings to win the finale, 8-5.

Redshirt-junior Drasen Johnson picked up the win for the Blue Team in game one behind five scoreless innings with four strikeouts. Blue scored five runs in the second inning, as they capitalized on a pair of errors and had sophomore Adam Walton clear the bases with a three-run triple. They again took advantage of two Orange errors in the final frame to tack on three more runs for the 8-0 final. New Illini Ike Greenspon pitched two scoreless innings to end the game.

In game two, the Blue Team broke an early 2-2 tie with four runs over the final four innings. Freshman Cody Sedlock tossed 4.2 innings and earned the win after only allowing two runs (one earned) before senior Luke Joyce closed out the game and kept Orange off the board. Five Illini accounted for the Blue Team's six runs with two by freshman Pat McInerney and one each by sophomore Adam Walton, redshirt-freshman Zack Kolakowski and freshmen Dan Rowbottom and Grey Schultz. Junior David Kerian also had an RBI triple in the first inning.

Game three of the Orange and Blue World Series ended with fireworks on Fletcher's two-out, three-run walk-off bomb on a 3-2 count over the right field wall. Orange trailed 5-0 after three innings but mounted a late comeback with a run in the fourth, three in the sixth and four in the seventh.
