Hartleb Named to USA Baseball 14U National Team Development Program Coaching Staff

DURHAM, N.C. - University of Illinois head baseball coach Dan Hartleb has been named to the coaching staff for the 2014 USA Baseball 14U National Team Development Program (NTDP), announced by USA Baseball Thursday. Hartleb will assist Eric Kibler at the National Training Complex in Cary, North Carolina, from August 4-8.
At the NTDP, players will participate in skill development sessions, various off-field educational components including guest speakers/instructors and intrasquad Red vs. Blue games. The NTDP programs will be used to further connect identified athletes with USA Baseball staff to better prepare and develop the athletes for a future USA Baseball National Team experience.
The 14U NTDP staff also will feature Florida State volunteer coach, Bryan Henry, two-time USA Baseball alum and Gulliver Prep (Fla.) assistant coach, Manny Crespo, former Major League Baseball player and a member of the 2000 Olympic baseball team, Brad Wilkerson, as well as University of Tampa head coach, Joe Urso, Florida Atlantic University head coach, John MacCormack, former coach for the USA Baseball Tournament of Stars and 18U National Team Trials, Sammy Serrano, USA Baseball Collegiate National Team alumnus and member of the 1988 Olympic baseball team, Ty Griffin, and former MLB player and Olympic gold medalist, Ernie Young.
Hartleb completed his ninth season as head coach at Illinois and 24th season on the Illini coaching staff in 2014. He has already joined the ranks of the winningest coaches in school history, as he moved into fourth place in school history with 276 career victories. Hartleb led the Illini to NCAA Regional berths in 2011 and 2013 and has taken the Orange and Blue to the Big Ten Tournament seven times. Illinois won the Big Ten regular season and tournament championships in 2011.
