Summer Diamond Notes #4: Scott Shaw
June 27, 2007 WATERLOO, Iowa - Hey Illini Fans! It's Illini pitcher Scott Shaw hangin' out in Waterloo, Iowa. Summer ball is officially underway and all things are well for Illini teammate Mike Giller and I. Mike is spending his summer out here with me playing for the Waterloo Bucks. Playing summer ball in a well-known league like the Northwoods League, you get a great opportunity to catch up with other Illini players who play in the same league. We actually just came off a stretch of three straight games in which a fellow Illini teammate was a part of the opposition. Over the weekend, we played two games against the Madison Mallards, which is Brandon Wikoff and Daniel Webb's team for the summer. The following game, Craig Lutes rallied his team, the Rochester Honkers, down to Iowa for a one-game affair. It's always fun getting to play against guys that you know so well and are used to having on your side. Also, sharing stories with each other about your teams are always worth a laugh. Plus, it's a great opportunity to meet more people and continue networking. You can never know too many people. Well, that's all for now from Waterloo, but Mike and I will be in touch in a few weeks or so. Take care and GO ILLINI!
