Summer Blog #2: Will Strack's Report from DuPage
June 24, 2009
LISLE, Ill. - This is Will Strack writing from Dupage Illinois where I am playing for the Dupage Dragons in the Prospect League. I'm playing alongside teammates Bryan Roberts and Adam Davis. We have started the season with a decent 8-7 record. Bryan and I have seen a good number of innings on the mound, with Adam catching as well as being the designated hitter on his days off. It s been nice to have two fellow Illini on the team for support, its especially nice for Bryan and I to have Adam on the team because he is a catcher who knows our strengths and knows how to use them to produce the best results. Both Bryan and I have been working on some adjustments to our pitching. With only a few games played, we are both seeing improvements. Bryan and I have been working together to improve on our weaknesses. With these improvements we hope to improve for strong sophomore seasons at the University of Illinois. So far this summer, we have traveled from Missouri to Pennsylvania. The trips are long but we find ways to pass the time. Bryan and Adam lighten up the mood with their practical jokes and pranks. During a rain delay in Pennsylvania both Bryan and Adam danced and chanted to "the Rain Gods" to try and stop the rain. Even though their efforts were unsuccessful, it gave everyone on the team a laugh.
We are at home the majority of the week, which gives us a chance to relax. The only exception is tonight (Wednesday, June 24), when we're in Danville to face the Dans. So if you're in the area, come on out to Danville Stadium at 7 p.m. and catch a game! It's been fun so far and we hope it continues to be that way. Good luck to all the other Illini playing summer ball!
