Illini Open Four-Game Home Stand Against Salukis
Coming off a weekend sweep at Northwestern and having won seven of their last nine games, the Fighting Illini start a four-game home stand by hosting Southern Illinois on Tuesday at 6 p.m. Illinois won a pair of games against SIU on its spring break trip in mid-March, beating the Salukis 8-2 at Abe Martin Field in Carbondale, Ill., on March 16 and 13-5 at Rent One Park in Marion, Ill., on March 18.
Illinois currently sits in a four-team tie for fourth place in the Big Ten standings, but only one game out of second place, where Minnesota and Indiana are tied with a 9-6 league record. Southern Illinois enters at 24-20 overall, 9-6 in the Missouri Valley Conference, which is good for third place in the eight-team league.
