CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The University of Illinois Division of Intercollegiate Athletics will host the second-annual Bleacher Bum Barbecue at Illinois Field on April 30 as the Fighting Illini host Northwestern in a 6:05 p.m. game time. The first edition of the Bleacher Bum Barbecue drew a school-record 5,214 fans and saw Illinois score three runs in the ninth inning to take down league-leading Ohio State, 5-4, in one of the most thrilling games in school history.

"I really think the crowd contributed to our rally in the ninth inning last year and we're hoping for an even better turnout this season," Illinois head coach Dan Hartleb. "We've had good attendance so far this year and I know many of our fans have been looking forward to the Bleacher Bum Barbecue after it was so well-received last season."

Once again, admission to the game will be free for all fans with gates opening at 5 p.m. The first 1,000 fans through the Illinois Field gates will receive free food. Parking will be free in any of the lots surrounding Illinois Field. First Federal Savings Bank will be giving out T-shirts to the first 1,000 students and children, and there will be a postgame fireworks display. Fans attending the Bleacher Bum Barbecue also will receive a voucher good for free admission to another game in the Northwestern series.

Inflatable games will be available for children to enjoy and the honorary first pitch will be thrown out by Olympic speed skater and Champaign native Katherine Reutter, who won silver and bronze medals at the 2010 Vancouver Games in February.
